A little smaller than the kestrel. No mustaches, breast lined transversely, terminal bar of the black tail. The male has the grey - blue back.125-234g (male), 164-300g (female). Merlin The young people winters to the circum-Mediterranean regions, the adults in the centre of Europe where they look for the bare plains.
