The mate is easy to identify. The female has a more discreet plumage with a white spot around the eye.
It is the duck of forests, which likes rivers with woody islands, ponds of forests and wet undergrowth. |

Mandarin ducks often settle on branches over the water or on cliffs which appear. They have a fast and supple flight and they are little talkative. |
Habitat : | It has a zone of nesting about 1000km of diameter in Extreme-Orient on the continent and the Japanese islands. |
